A European benchmark for radiology excellence, now with enhanced support for India
The European Diploma in Radiology(EDiR) is an internationally recognised certificate of excellence, endorsed by the ESR and UEMS and based on the ESR European Training Curriculum for Radiology.
For Indian candidates, the EDiR provides a valuable opportunity to validate specialist-level knowledge and clinical reasoning while benefiting from a dedicated support package developed in the context of the EBR–IRIA collaboration.

IRIA × EBR Cooperation
Through the cooperation between the Indian Radiological & Imaging Association(IRIA) and the European Board of Radiology (EBR), IRIA members benefit from an exclusive preparation package designed to support exam readiness.

Indian candidates can now benefit from an even stronger EDiR support package, combining an internationally recognised diploma with a comprehensive set of complimentary educational resources, and the ECR 2027 registration included in the examination fee.
Who an apply for the EDiR examination
The EDiR examination in India is open to eligible radiologists with MD Radiology / Radio Diagnosis or DNB Radio Diagnosis, provided they have completed at least four years of radiology training and/or supervised professional experience, including one additional year of supervised professional experience in a recognised institution.
Non-Indian and non-IRIA candidates may also apply, but the special India 2026 benefits are reserved for Indian nationals who are Life or Provisional Life Members of IRIA.
The EDiR and IRIA Open Sessions are interactive online webinars designed to help radiology residents and early-career radiologists prepare with real EDiR-style cases and a clear overview of the exam.
Format
- Live webinars (interactive, via Slido)
- Two general sessions aligned with the ESR European Training Curriculum (ETC) Levels I & II
What to expect
Each session includes:
- A concise introduction to the EDiR (exam structure, blueprint and approach)
- 4–5 practical exam-style cases (MRQs, Short Cases and CORE cases)
- Case mix across key subspecialties: Breast, Cardiac, Head & Neck, Interventional and Neuroradiology
- Live Slido interaction — the top participant receives free access to EDiRTE (via the EDiR app)

Special benefits for IRIA members
Indian nationals who are Life Members or Provisional Life Members of IRIA are eligible for a dedicated EDiR support package for the 2026 examination sessions in India.
This enhanced package has been developed to support Indian radiologists throughout their EDiR preparation journey, combining a reduced examination fee, complimentary educational resources and access to key European radiology opportunities.

Reduced EDiR examination fee
IRIA members benefit from a reduced EDiR examination fee of €990 for the 2026 examination sessions in India.
Complimentary EDiR Simulation
Candidates receive access to the EDiR Simulation, designed to help them become familiar with the structure and style of the examination, including MRQs, Short Cases and CORE-style cases.
Exclusive Masterclass for Indian candidates
An exclusive educational session will be offered to Indian candidates to support their preparation and provide focused guidance ahead of the examination.
Self-assessment resources
The package includes selected EDiR self-assessment modules to help candidates review key areas of the curriculum:
- 1 MRQ self-assessment on Other Subspecialties
Including imaging physics, imaging pharmacology, management and related topics. - 1 MRQ self-assessment on Urogenital Radiology
- 1 Short Case self-assessment on Cardiac Radiology
6 EDiR Preparatory Micro Courses
Candidates will also receive access to six focused preparatory micro courses:

Cardiac
Neuroradiology
Chest II
Informatics
Neuroradiology II
ECR 2027 registration included
Candidates registering for the EDiR examination in New Delhi or Chennai in 2026 will also receive complimentary registration to ECR 2027, one of the world’s leading radiology congresses.
This benefit allows Indian candidates to combine their EDiR journey with access to an outstanding international scientific and educational event.
